Upscale Technologies is an independent software company and the maker of Upscale, a growing suite of business apps. We work from Nairobi, for customers in East Africa and the Gulf, where an invoice might be paid by bank transfer today and M-Pesa tomorrow. We build for that reality.
Most of our week goes into the suite. The same team takes a small number of client engagements, and the two feed each other: engagements keep us close to how businesses actually run, and what we learn there ends up in the product.

I started Upscale Technologies in Nairobi in 2017, building custom software for other companies. Before that, from 2013 onward, I had the privilege of working with some of the best teams around the world, on all kinds of software. That experience taught me what great software looks like and, just as importantly, what businesses actually need from it. It convinced me we could build software that was practical, reliable and genuinely useful.
Once we started working with businesses, the same requests kept coming back in different forms: invoicing that matches how the business actually runs, stock counts you can trust, and month ends that don't drag into the next month.
Upscale is our answer to that pattern. Build it once, build it properly and stand behind it. Nine years in, when you write to us it's still one of the people who builds the product who answers. That won't change.
